gita Lloyd
"For me it's all about energy. Whether I'm painting cattle out in the foothills; doing a watercolor landscape from a train; painting a portrait; or drawing cartoons for a book, the reoccurring theme in my work is aliveness. I want to fill my work with energy." - gita

As a national award winning artist, Gita has developed
a bold and direct painting style. Preferring public
works presentations, her ongoing Diptych Portrait
Series was installed in Bakersfield's Centennial
Gardens during the First Night 2000 Millennium
Celebration. Her works include: The 5000 Faces
Project, Bakersfield ALIVE!, Rows of Men, The
Landscape Heritage Project, The Don Giovanni's and
Benchshots.

On a mission to reintroduce painting to the public,
Gita painted before a hundred thousand people live
during a recent NBC affiliate KGET Channel 17's News
Hour. She loves to speak to children and adults about
all things pertaining to art: the lifestyle; the love
of; professional techniques and attitudes; how to
succeed; art's current importance and creativity. Gita
has also taught hands-on drawing techniques to large
classes in a refreshing and life changing way. Her
motto: Learning to draw is learning to see!
